Gators drops two matches at Cougar Clash
Dallas, PA— The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team traveled to Pennsylvania on Friday to compete in the two-day Misericordia Cougar Kickoff Classic. Sage opened play facing Randolph Macon, but fell 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17). Against Mount Union University, the Gators fell 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-21) putting Sage at 2-3.
 
Against Randolph Macon, Sage's sophomore co-captain Mike Basile (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) added his second straight double-double on 10 kills with 15 digs. Junior Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) contributed seven kills, while junior middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) picked up eight kills with two digs. Sophomore setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township) led Sage with his 12 setting assists and had six digs with a kill in the action.
 
Against Mount Union, junior middle hitter Shane Wenz (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) added seven kills with an ace. Martel tallied four digs with two solo blocks and a kill. Basile had six digs with two kills and an ace, while Jennings had 13 setting assists with seven digs and a solo block for the Gators.
 
Sage is back in action on Saturday in the final days of the Misericordia Clash. Sage will face Trine University at 22 a.m. and Elizabethtown College at 3 p.m.
