Wildcats best Sage in 5 sets, 3-2

Marcy, NY— The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team traveled to SUNY-Polytechnic for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night. Going five sets, the Wildcats collected a 3-2 victory to hand Sage their first loss on the young season. SUNY-Poly is now 3-2 and Sage is 2-1.

Junior Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) led the Gators with his 17 kills and five digs. Sage's junior middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) picked up 15 kills with two digs.  Sophomore setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township) led Sage with his 50 setting assists, seven digs, and with four kills and a block assist.

Sophomore co-captain Mike Basile (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) added a double-double on 13 kills with 11 digs. He picked up one solo block with an ace as well. Senior co-captain Zackery Karl (West Monroe, NY/Central Square) racked up 11 kills with three aces, five digs and block assists.

Sage is back in action on Friday and Saturday travelling to Pennsylvania to compete in the Misericordia Clash. Sage will face Randolph Macon on Friday at 4 p.m. and Mount Union University at 6 p.m. on Friday night.
