UVC and Empire 8 salute Sanders once again!

Rochester, NY-  The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team garnered numerous awards on Monday from the Empire 8 and the United Volleyball Conference as the Gators' sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Now from Niskayuna, NY/Taft) was tapped as the Rookie of the Week by both the Empire 8 and the UVC, marking his fifth citation on the season he has earned rookie acclaim. Sanders was also honored as the Empire 8 Men's Volleyball Player of the Week.

Sage collected a pair of non-conference wins last week, besting Purchase College, 3-0 and John Jay College, 3-1. The Gators are now 11-14 overall.

On the week, Sanders helped Sage to a 2-0 week after adding 14 kills with a .522 hitting percentage. He also added three block assists with 15.5 points on the week. Sanders hit .667 on six attempts with five kills and one error against Purchase College and then came back to hit .471 with nine kills and one error.

In his first year at Sage, Sanders has certainly made an impact on the court. He has 173 kills to go with his 2.22 kills per set average. He owns a team-best .453 attack percentage. Sanders also has 213.5 points on the season, which is currently third on the squad. He is second in total blocks with 58, while adding a team-best 47 block assists.

Sage will close out the 2018 season on April 7 hosting Lehman College and New Jersey City University in a pair of non-conference matches in Kahl Gym. Sage will host Lehman at 11 a.m. and NJCU at 3 p.m. Prior to the 3 p.m. match, Sage will honor their four seniors in conjunction with Senior Day.
