Guyton breaks Career Kill Mark; Gators fall to No. 2 Stevens

Albany, NY-  The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team hosted the No. 2 ranked AVCA team, the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in a UVC match held at Kahl Gym. Stevens collected the 3-0 win, beating Sage 25-14, 25-19, 25-18 and improves to 17-3 overall and 6-0 in the UVC. Sage drops to 8-12 overall and 2-4 in the UVC.

Sage's senior outside hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) added seven kills and broke the program's all-time career kill mark, which he held with Dylan Krowicki (2012-2014) at 1,044 kills entering the match. Guyton had seven kills with five digs on the day, giving him 1,051 career kills. Guyton, who already holds Sage's career record for most points and aces, now has 190 career aces to go with his 1,331.0 points.

Senior outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) picked up a team-best 10 kills in the action with six digs, while sophomore middle hitter Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added two kills.

Sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) added nine kills with a .533 attack percentage to go with his nine points. Rookie setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) added 15 setting assists in the match with three digs.

Senior libero Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) picked up nine digs with an impressive reception percentage, having made just one error in 25 attempts. Sage's career dig leader, Fitzpatrick now has 812 digs.

Junior Austin Laverty (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) added two digs with 12 setting assists in the match.

Stevens was led by the play of Jack Bittker who had seven kills with a .294 attack percentage, while adding three digs a perfect 12-0 mark on reception attempts. Ryan Byrne picked up six kills, while Ian Bennett added seven kills and four digs.  Grant Burden had 27 setting assists, while also picking up five digs for the Ducks.

Sage will be back in action on March 18 hosting a UVC play date facing NYU on Sunday at noon and Stevens and SUNY-New Paltz will compete at 2:30 p.m. in Kahl Gym.
