Hawks collect win over Sage in UVC Men's volleyball play

New Paltz, NY-  The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team faced the Hawks of SUNY-New Paltz on Wednesday night in a UVC match. The Hawks earned the 3-0 win (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) to improve to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the league. The loss puts Sage at 7-8 overall and 1-2 in the United Volleyball Conference. 

Sage's senior outside hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) connected for six kill with a .600 attack percentage. He added four digs in the match. Guyton is already Sage's career point leader with mark of 1,263.5 points. He is closing in on attaining his 1,000th career kill as he now has 996 after Wednesday's contest.

Senior outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) picked up four kills with two digs and four block assists. He now has 1,008 career kills and is second only to Dylan Krowicki (1,044, 2012-2014). He is also climbing the program's career point list and is currently third with 1,180.0 points.

Senior libero Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) picked up five digs and continues to add to his active career record for digs at Sage, which has grown to 771 digs. He had a .929 reception percentage with only one error in 13 attempts.  Sophomore outside hitter Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) picked up three kills, while sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) racked up four kills with four block assists. Rookie setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) added eight setting assists in the match.

Sage will be back in action on February 24 travelling to Springfield College for a pair of non-league matches with the No. 1 ranked team in Division III and the defending NCAA Champions, Springfield and Rivier College in matches at 3 and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
