Cecchi collects 1000th career kill; Gators drop UVC match to #15 Elmira

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY-  The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team faced No. 15 ranked Elmira College Soaring Eagles on the campus of Bard College. Elmira collected the 3-0 win (25-15, 25-2, 25-18) to improve to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in the UVC. The loss puts Sage at 7-7 overall and 1-1 in the United Volleyball Conference. 

Senior outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) became just the second player in Sage men's volleyball history to collect his 1,000th career kill. Cecchi added eight kills with three digs and was 21-2 on reception attempts for a .913 reception percentage. He now has 1,004 career kills and is second only to Dylan Krowicki (1,044, 2012-2014). He is also climbing the program's career point list and is currently third with 1,174.0 points.

Sage's senior outside hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) connected for seven kills and had a .9-5 reception percentage having made just two errors in 19 attempts. Guyton already holds Sage's career ace mark 182, while leading the program with his active career mark of 1,257.5 points. He is closing in on attaining his 1,000th career kill as he now has 990 after Sunday's match-up with Elmira.

Senior libero Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) picked up five digs and continues to add to his active career record for digs at Sage, which has grown to 766 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shane Wenz (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) picked up three kills, with an ace and five block assists.  

Sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) racked up seven kills with a .333 attack percentage to go with his two digs, a block assist and an ace. Rookie setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) added 17 setting assists in the match with two digs and a block assist.

Sage will be back in action on February 21 travelling to SUNY-New Paltz for a 7 p.m. UVC match on the road.
