Guyton, Cecchi and Fitzpatrick Named to 2017 Skyline Conference Teams

NEW YORK -Sage juniors Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport), Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) and Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) were named to the 2017 Men's Volleyball Skyline All-Conference Teams as voted by the conference's 10 head coaches.

Guyton picked up his second straight Skyline First-Team honor after averaging 3.45 kills/set. The two-year captain scored his 1,000th career point after averaging 4.04 points/set, 21st in the nation and 3rd in the conference. On defense, the outside hitter averaged 0.31 blocks/set and 1.39 digs/set with a .923 reception percentage. Guyton's 26 kills against Mount Saint Vincent were a school record and 21st in division III in five-set matches. Guyton also set the school record against Lehman in four-set points with 25.5. After breaking the Sage career aces record last year, the two-time Skyline Player of the Week ranks 2nd in aces/set (0.52), 3rd in hitting percentage (.265), 3rd in points (1,077.5), 4th in block solos (40), 4th in kills (844) 5th in kills/set (2.87), 5th in block assists (79), 5th in total blocks (119), 5th in points/set (3.66) and 7th in digs (931).

Cecchi and Fitzpatrick were both named to the Skyline Second-Team for the second time in their careers. Cecchi led the nation in single-match hitting percentage on 10-14 attempts against Southern Vermont (.909). The two-year captain totaled three double-doubles against Arcadia (15 kills, 12 digs), Purchase (13 kills, 11 digs) and St. Joseph's - Long Island (11 kills, 11 digs). The outside hitter averaged 3.40 points, 2.98 kills, 1.50 digs, 0.28 aces and 0.24 blocks per set. Cecchi also had an impressive .946 reception percentage on 464 attempts. The junior scored his 1,000th career point two weeks after Guyton to become the fourth player in school history to hit the milestone. In Sage career records, the week five Skyline Player of the Week currently ranks 3rd in kills (851), 3rd in aces/set (0.32), 4th in aes (95), 4th in points (1,001), 5th in block solos (31), 6th in points/set (3.36) 6th in digs (450) and 10th in total blocks (79).

Fitzpatrick picked up his second-team honor at the libero position after starting the first half of the season at setter. The junior knotted 41 assists, 14th best in the nation over three-sets, against Johnson & Wales while coming up with 23 digs in a five-set match against Mount Saint Vincent, 18th in the country. A three-sport athlete in volleyball, golf and tennis, Fitzpatrick recorded double-doubles against D'Youville (52 assists, 13 digs), Lehman (48 assists, 12 digs) and Keuka (31 assists, 11 digs). He became the second player in program history to hit the 1,000th career assist mark against Elmira. After being named to the honor roll three times, the junior average 9.25 assists at setter and 2.52 digs after switching to libero. After three seasons, Fitzpatrick ranks 2nd in assists (1,361), 3rd in digs (617), 4th in digs/set (2.06), 4th in assists/set (4.54) and 8th in aces (49).

The Gators finished 17-15 on the year with a 6-3 conference record. Sage was the number four seed in the Skyline Championship and fell to St. Joseph's - Long Island 3-1 in the first round. The Gators finished second in the conference and 20th in the nation in hitting percentage with a .241 average. Sage was also 3rd in the Skyline in blocks with 1.60/set.
