Sage men's volleyball posts a pair of key Skyline wins on Saturday

Jersey City, NJThe Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to New Jersey City College for a Skyline Conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Gators posted a 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence College (25-12, 25-12, 25-13) and then topped the host Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University, 3-2 (19-25, 25-20,25-20, 23-25, 15-12). Sage is now 11-15 overall and 8-4 in the league.

The Gators return to action on Sunday at Sarah Lawrence College for a tri-match with Purchase College.

Against SLC, Sage's sophomore Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) racked up 12 kills with a .588 attack percentage and added three digs with an ace. Rookie River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) added five kills with a dig, while rookie Zachary Karl (Central Square, NY/Central Square) added six kills with two digs.  Senior setter Anthony Gerace (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) connected for 28 setting assists with two digs and two aces as the Gators combined for10 aces with a .300 attack percentage in the match.

In the second match which went five sets, Sage's sophomore Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) had 19 kills with a .361 attack percentage. Guyton added four digs with two block assists and two aces. Cecchi led the Gators with 20 kills and added three block assists with five digs and an ace. Junior Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) added seven kills with an ace, while sophomore Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) added 45 setting assists with 14 digs, while sophomore Melvin Tejada (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) had 11 digs.
