Gators Split in Skyline Action Play

BROOKLYN – Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) led Sage with 16 kills as they split with Kean and St. Joseph's (Bklyn) on Saturday afternoon. Kean took the first game 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-22) while Sage beat St. Joseph's (Bklyn) 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-12).

Sage's (5-12, 2-2 Skyline) Cecchi and Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) combined for 16 kills against Kean. The sophomore duo each recorded one service assist. Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) totaled 23 assists while Melvin Tejada (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) came up with 11 digs. Guyton and Zachary Karl (Central Square, NY/Central Square) helped on defense with each recording a block assist.

Kean's (10-5, 4-0 Skyline) Jacob Kauffman recorded an impressive 19.0 points on 13 kills and six service aces. Tommy Rosario added 13.5 points and 12 kills of his own. Kevin Barrow had a game-high 38 assists. On the defensive end, Nick Breslin recorded 10 digs while Rosario had 1.5 blocks (1 BS, 1 BA).

In the second game, Cecchi and Fitzpatrick combined for 16 kills. Cecchi recorded a team high 10.0 points and two service aces. Anthony Gerace (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) had a game-high 27 assists in his third appearance of the season. On the defensive end, Tejada and Peter Fabrykiewicz (Delancey, NY/Andes) combined for 12 digs while Gerace had 1.5 blocks (1 BS, 1 BA).

St. Joseph's (Bklyn) (1-6, 0-4 Skyline) Clyda Delacruz had a game-high 11.5 points on seven kills. Norrin Martinez had 19 assists. Thomas Kennedy had 13 digs and Delacruz had 2.5 blocks (2 BS, 1 BA) on the defensive end.

Over the course of the two matches, Cecchi had 16 kills and 18 points while Guyton had 12 kills and 12.5points. Tejada totaled 17 digs while Cecchi, Guyton and Fitzpatrick each had seven of their own.

The Gators continue their efforts on the road tomorrow as they travel to Mt. St. Vincent for a tri-match with NJCU. The match with Mt. St. Vincent takes place at 11:00 a.m. with the NJCU game to follow at 2:00 p.m.
