Laverty Tapped Skyline Rookie of the Week; Fitzpatrick Picks Up Honor Roll

NEW YORK – Austin Laverty (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week while Robert (Casey) Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) picked up a spot on the honor roll after the first week of the 2016 season.

The Gators opened up the 2016 season at the SUNY-Polytechnic Invitational this past weekend with matches against Wentworth, Wells, Elms and No. 3 ranked Nazareth.

Laverty opened up his collegiate career with 83 assists (5.93/set). The freshman setter also averaged 0.93 digs and 0.29 blocks per set. Laverty currently ranks 3rd on the team in digs.

Fitzpatrick, Sage's libero, recorded a Skyline best 3.21 digs/set average to kick off his second season with the Gators.

With the release of the latest NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball statistics, Fitzpatrick ranks No. 6 in the nation in digs per set average and leads the Skyline, while Laverty ranks 80th with his .93 setting assists per set average.

 



Sage's next match is Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. against SUNY-Polytechnic  in their home debut in Kahl Gymnasium.
