Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday night. Prior to the match Sage honored their nine seniors in conjunction with Senior Night. CMSV triumphed in five sets, 3-2 (27-29, 25-23, 25-20, 20-2, 15-13). The Dolphins improve to 15-10 overall and 9-5 in the Skyline Conference and have clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Skyline Tournament. Sage's season comes to an end with an 8-18 record, while finishing at 7-7 in the league.
Sage's senior captain Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) had 26 kills with nine digs. He made just on reception error in his 34 attempts. Senior Connor Thompson (Delmar, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) also finished the match with 17 kills and had 10 digs and two block assists.
Senior Justin Pruiksma (Athens, NY/Coxsackie-Athens) added six kills with 10 digs and an ace, while senior Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Spa) connected for had five kills, while connecting for three digs and two block assists.
Sage's senior setter Matthew DeGeyter (Hudson, NY/Hawthorne Valley) had 52 setting assists with nine digs, while senior libero Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) added 28 digs for the Gators. Senior outside hitter Zach Kuhn (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) added five digs and was perfect in his seven receptions attempts and netted four digs.
The Gators saw the finale of nine players that have left their mark on the program, establishing numerous single-season and career records. Among them, Krowicki finishes his career as the all-time point leader with 1,212.5 points, while ranking first in kills with 1,044. DeGeyter finishes his career as the No. 2 person in career setting assists with 751, while Thompson wraps his career as the all-time total block leader with 299.
Gransbury played in 325 sets, which stands No. 3 all-time with 551 digs (No. 4).
Adding to the senior night festivities was the recognition of Shane Gaffoor (Queens Village, NY/Thomas Edison) and Robert Ainsworth (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga).
