Sage Men's Volleyball Splits at Skyline Quadmatch

Riverdale, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a Skyline Conference quad match. The Gators faced New Jersey City University in the first match, but fell 3-0 ((25-20, 25-20, 25-21), but rebounded with a 3-0 win over NYU-Poly ((25-14, 25-21, 25-16). Sage improves to 2-10 overall and is now 2-4 in the Skyline Conference.

Against NJCU, Sage was led by the 19 kills from senior captain Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls). Krowicki had a double-double in the contest as he has 13 digs and a 7-0 in receptions with no errors.  Rookie Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) added five kills with no errors in his nine receptions in the action. Senior setter Matthew DeGeyter (Hudson, NY/Hawthorne Valley) had 28 setting assists with four digs and three kills.  Senior libero Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) added 12 digs for the Gators. 
Against NYU-Poly, Sage was paced by nine kills each from Krowicki and junior middle hitter Juan Polanco (Bronx, NY/Urban Assembly Academy). Senior outside hitter Justin Pruiksma (Athens, NY/Coxsackie-Athens) added eight kills as well as two aces for the Gators. DeGeyter added 30 setting assists, while Gransbury connected for 14 digs.

For the match Sage had a .216 combined hitting percentage, while holding the Jays of NYU-Poly to a 0.52 hitting percentage.

Sage returns to action on March 4 travelling to Kean University for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match. The match marks the return of Sage's head coach Jimmy Pompeo to his alma mater.
