Roadrunners Top Gators in Skyline Opener

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team opened the 2014 Skyline Conference season on Monday night hosting Ramapo College in Kahl Gym. The Roadrunners posted a 3-0 win (25-11, 25-19, 25-15) to improve to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Sage drops to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.

Ramapo's rookie Ahjon Petty (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) added 13 kills to lead the Roadrunners with five digs and had three aces.  Senior Chris Sidnam (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) added seven kills, while senior Brian Colabella (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) added six kills and five digs.  Rookie libero Kurt MacDonald (Monroe Township, NJ/St. Joseph's (Metuchen) added a match-high 14 digs, while senior setter Andrew Balint (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) added 30 setting assists to pace the Roadrunners as they had a combined .357 hitting percentage in the match.

For the Gators, senior captain Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) added six kills with two digs. Senior captain Connor Thompson (Delmar, NY/CBA) added six kills and senior libero Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) added 13 digs for the Gators. Senior setter Matthew DeGeyter (Hudson, NY/Hawthorne Valley) added 16 setting assists with 10 digs.

The Gators will be back in action on February 13 travelling to Southern Vermont College for a 7 p.m. non-conference match, while Ramapo College visits NYU for a 7 p.m. match.
