2014 Team Captain

As a junior, Connor ranked ninth nationally with his 1.05 blocks per set average. On the season, he led the Gators with 116 total blocks and became the program's all-time block leader with his 255 total blocks and 202 block assists. Thompson also ranked No. 47 in hitting percentage with his 0.300%.

Thompson was also instrumental in the successful 2013 campaign as the Gators rewrote the record book. Sage went 30-7 on the season en route to the 2013 ECAC Division III North Championship after finishing the season as the Skyline Conference runner-up.

As a team, the Gators ranked No. 5 in the team statistics in both aces per set (1.84) and win-loss percentage (0.811). Sage is ranked in the Top 20 in five additional categories. The Gators finished the season ranked No. 14 in kills per set average (12.1), while ranking No. 15 in digs per set (10.41) and No. 16 in assists per set average (11.18) and No. 16 as well in blocks per set (2.15). Sage also ranked 20th in Division III with a 0.238 hitting percentage in 2013.

He was named the recipient  of the 2012-2013 Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award at Sage’s Annual Athletic Award Banquet.  A hard-working student in the classroom, he has continued to excel on and off the court and even returned from off-season surgery to help the team with his outstanding play.  He led the 2013 Gators in blocks and now holds the career total block mark after playing the 2012 season with an injury. A dedicated son and sibling, he provides substantial care for an ailing mother and a younger sister.

He has earned three letters as a member of the men’s volleyball program at Sage. He was named the team’s Most Improved Player as a newcomer in 2011. Honored that same season with a selection as the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week once, he finished the season with 106 kills in 86 sets played. He added a team-best 74 total blocks with 19 digs.

 Thompson, who also played for Sage’s men’s soccer team in 2010, added 92 kills with 65 total blocks as a member of the 2012 team.

On his career, he has played in 288 sets for the Gators and now has 398 career kills in 86 matches played. He has 75 career digs and 255 total blocks.  He holds Sage single-match marks for most total blocks (11 vs. Wentworth in the 2013 ECAC Championship match), while also ranking first in block assists in the same match (9). His 2013 numbers rank first for block assists (98), his 116 total blocks is also first for single-season performances.

His 255 career total blocks ranks No. 1 at Sage, while his 0.89 blocks per set average is also first.

A graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Thompson excelled in four sports there (soccer, indoor track, outdoor track, and tennis). He was named to the all-star team in soccer as a senior. He is majoring in law and justice at Sage and is the son of Vince Thompson and Karen Diamond.
