Gator men's volleyball players rank in national leaders

Albany, NY--- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team and its members are amongst the national NCAA Division III statistical leaders with the release of the fifth statistical rankings. Sage, which stands at 16-7 on the year, is ranked nationally in six team categories, while several players rank in the national Top 50 statistically. The 2012 Gators have already surpassed the mark for most wins in a season with three regular-season matches to go.

Sage ranks 13th nationally in win percentage .696, while ranking 13th in digs per set (10.38), 24th in assists per set (10.01), 25th in hitting percentage (.209), 27th in kills per set (10.87), and 27th in blocks per set (1.85). 

Among the 2012 team members nationally ranked are junior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) as he ranks 12th in setting assists per set (9.37). Ray checks in with a team-best has handed out a personal-best 768 setting assists this year. The career leader at Sage, he has 1,479 to his credit, while adding 309 kills and 483 digs.

Junior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) ranks in three different categories. He is 16th in kills per set average (3.4), while ranking 26th in blocks per set (0.91), and 47th in digs per set (2.01). He leads the team with his 279 kills and 75 total blocks. He is also first with his 165 digs on the year. He surpassed the 500 career kill plateau this past weekend and now has a program-best 519 career kills. He has also connected on 136 career total blocks with 267 digs in 147 sets played as a Gator.

Sophomore Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) is also ranked in three categories. He is 19th in kills per set (3.4), 45th in digs per set (2.02), and 49th in hitting percentage (.268). He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Endicott College Invitational and was placed on the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his play last week. He averaged 3.47 kills for the week with a .246 attack percentage, while also adding 1.53 digs per set. On the 2012 campaign, Krowicki has 269 kills with a .268 hitting percentage. He has also connected for 164 digs with 24 total blocks and 13 aces in 81 sets played.

Sophomore Scott Fitzgerald (Hudson Falls, NY/Queensbury) ranks 22nd in aces per set as he has a 0.4 per set average. He leads the team with his 33 aces and has chipped in 173 kills in 82 sets played. He has also connected on 153 digs with 46 total blocks on the season.

Sage will be back in action on March 31 at Yeshiva University for a Skyline Conference tri-match with New Jersey City University. Action commences at noon on Sunday.
