Utica, NY--Russell Sage College men's outdoor track and field team opened competition on Friday at the 2023 Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Utica University. The action wraps on Saturday.
Senior John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) finished in second place in the hammer throw with his mark of 49.50 meters.
Sophomore Kaiden Simpson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) broke the school record and finished with an impressive third place showing in the javelin. He broke his own mark after he had a throw of 47.14 meters on Friday, breaking his previous best of 45.99 meters from last month.
Sophomore David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) took home sixth place with a time of 51.58 in the 400 meter run after he won his heat along the way.
Sophomore Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) was 14th in the javelin with his toss of 34.56 meters.
Rookie Noah Rivera (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) was seventh in the long jump (6.17 meters), while sophomore Randal Johnson (East Orange, NJ/East Orange) picked up 20th in the hammer with his throw of 29.75 meters and Simpson was 21st (27.11 meters).
