Rivera sets school record on opening day of outdoor season

Clinton, NY--Russell Sage College men's utdoor track and field team opened the 2023 season on Saturday traveling to Hamilton College. A non-team scored meet, the Gators had an impressive start to the season highlighted by some top performances and a school record.

For the Gator men, rookie Noah Rivera (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) set a school record and finished in second place in the triple jump. He turned a performance of 12.95 meters, bettering the mark set last season by teammate sophomore David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) of 12.93 meters.  Rivera was 13th in the long jump with a leap of 5.64 meters and also 40th in the 100 meter dash in 11.91.  

Senior John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) was second in the shot put with her toss of 14.28 meters. He was also 10th in the hammer with a mark of 40.93 and picked up 15th in the discus with his throw of 32.03meters.

Rookie Dominic Harkness (Morrisonville, NY/Saranac) was 12th in the 400 meter dash in 56.06. He added a time of 25.50 to take 43rd in the 400 meter dash. Sophomore Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) was 19th in the men's 400 meter dash (1:00.48) and was 27th in the triple jump (3.89 meters).

Sophomore Kaiden Simpson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) recorded a mark of 22.40 in the hammer to finish in 32nd place.

 The Gators are back in action on April 8 travelling to Utica University for competion at the Pioneer Spring Invitational.
