Adadjo honored for excellence at RSC

Albany, NY—Russell Sage College's department of athletics announced their award winners for the 2021-2022 academic year at the annual awards banquet.  In addition to several honors bestowed for athletic and academic excellence, Sage also selected the Gator of the Year Award for the department's 21 varsity sports for the 2021-2022 year.

A member of the Gators men's indoor and outdoor track and field teams at RSC, rookie David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) earned several awards during his first collegiate campaign. He was named the Gator of the Year for the men's indoor track and field team and was also honored as RSC's Male Rookie of the Year in an individual sport. He added two Empire 8 Track athlete of the week citations as well.

Head Track and Field Coach Nick Jones remarked about our Adadjo, "David has had an immediate impact upon the program in his first year as a Gator." Jones added, "His hard work is reflected by his numerous school records and the citations he has already taken home.

As a member of the indoor team, he was tapped for the Empire 8 Third Team after he finished in third place in the 400 meter dash with a school record time of 50.13 at the 2022 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships. While running at the league championship, he scored 12.5 points in the team's competition.

Over the course of the year, he set school records indoors in the 60 meter dash (7.33), the 200 meter dash (22.56), the 400 meter dash (50.13), and the triple jump (13.03 meters) and was also part of the school record lineup in the 4 x 200 relay (1:44.82).

Outdoors, he set the school record in the triple jump (12.93 meters) before an injury shortened his outdoor campaign.
