Gator men finish in sixth at Empire 8 Championship

Rochester, NY –Russell Sage College's men's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up action at the  2022 Empire 8 Track Championship held at Nazareth College's Stadium Complex. Sage's men's team finished in sixth place, while Utica took home the men's team championship title.

Men's team captain, junior John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) finished in third place in the shot put with a throw of 14.16 meters. While the performance is an AARTFC qualifying mark, it does not improve upon a performance of 14.79 meters he scored to set the school record earlier this year. He also was fifth in the discus with his throw of 37.88 meters.  On Friday night, he won the hammer throw with a toss of 45.93 meters and became the school's first E8 champion.

Junior Joe Degiorgio (Troy, NY/Troy) raced in the 5,000 meter run on Saturday and was 14th with his time of 16:39.95.

On Friday, senior Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows), who holds the school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.70 meters, finished in fifth place in the event with his performance of 6.63 meters.

Degiorgio competed in the 10,000 meter run and finished in 10th place with a time of 34:33.93.
