Coddington breaks two school records as Gators shine at Utica

Utica, NY –  Russell Sage College's men's outdoor track and field program competed on Saturday at the Utica University Pioneer Invitational.  The Gator men broke two school records and picked up sixth place in the 10-team field as the host Pioneers won the men's team title.

Junior captain John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) had another impressive meet as he broke two school records. He was second in the shot put with an All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field qualifying mark as he had a throw of 13.87 meters. He was ninth in the discus as he broke his own school record with a performance of 36.23 meters. In the hammer toss, he bettered his school record with a throw of 41.07 meters and finished in fourth place.

Rookie David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) placed in a number of events on Saturday.  He finished in third place in the 400 meter run in 53.53, while finishing in fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.51 meters. He had a time of 11.92 in the 100 meter run to take eighth place and picked up sixth in the 200 meter run in 24.15.

Senior Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) was third in the triple jump with a leap of 6.48.

In the 800 meter run, rookie Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) finished 20th in 2:23.94, while senior Brett LaBier (Albany, NY/Colonie) added a time of 2:34.80 and was 26th. In the 1,500 meter run, junior Joe Degiorgio (Troy, NY/Troy) took home 18th with a time of 4:35.28.

Junior co-captain Michael Cichy (Selkirk, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) finished with a time of 27.59 in the 200 meter run and took home 25th place.

Rookie Randal Johnson (East Orange, NJ/East Orange) finished in 19th in the shot put with his throw of 6.98 meters and was 11th in the hammer throw with a throw of 23.47 meters.

The Gators picked up fifth in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 4:06.70 behind the efforts of Langer, Degiorgio, LaBier, and Adadjo.

Looking ahead, RSC competes on April 16 at the Williams College Invitational, commencing at noon.
