Three School Records Fall for Gators at Swanson Invitational

Middletown, CT –  Russell Sage College's men's outdoor track and field squad opened the new season on Saturday competing at Wesleyan University Elmer J. Swanson Invitational. A non-team scored meet, the event was not completed before weather halted action late in the day. RSC's men's team broke three program records at the event.

Junior captain John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) won the shotput with a blistering throw of 14.79 meters. He shattered the previous mark set in 2016 by Ben Hulett of 10.53 meters set at the same meet. Coddington also set the program record as he finished fourth in the hammer toss with a throw of 40.39 meters.

Rookie David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) had a banner afternoon as well as he competed in four different events and finished in the Top five in all of them. He was third in the triple jump with his school record leap of 12.93 meter bettering the effort of Eric Denny (12.78 meters) set in 2015. Adadjo was also third in the 100 meter dash in 11.26, fourth in the 200 meter dash (23.04), and fifth in the 400 meter run in 52.24.

Senior Brett Labier (Albany, NY/Colonie) added a time of 5:12.66 in the 1,500 meter run and finished in 26th place, rookie Randal Johnson (East Orange, NJ/East Orange) finished in 15th in the hammer toss with his throw of 22.68 meters.

Looking ahead, RSC competes next Saturday, April 2 competing at the Hamilton College Invitational.
