Coddington finishes as Empire 8 Runner-up in Shot Put as Gators Open E8 Championship

UTICA, NY –  Russell Sage College's men's indoor track and field program opened up competition on Friday at the 2022 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Utica University.

Junior captain John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) finished as the conference runner-up with his impressive effort in the shot put. He once again broke his own school record in the event as he had a toss of 14.75 meters, bettering his throw of 14.41 meters from last week's competition.

Rookie David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) clocked in at 51.82 to take third place in the 400 meter run, while junior Joe Degiorgio (Troy, NY/Troy) ran a time of 17:29.91 to finish in 19th in the 5,000 meter run.

The Gators also posted a seventh place finish in the distance medley relay in 12:59.17 as freshman Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills), Armon Khalek (Hudson, NY/Hudson), senior Brett LaBier (Albany, NY/Colonie), and Degiorgio ran the event for RSC.

Freshman Zakhariah Chowdhury (Hudson, NY/Hudson) had a jump of 5.37 meters in the long jump as well.

The Empire 8 Championship wraps on Saturday at 10 a.m.
