Tyler Mitchell arrived at Sage in 2018-2019 as a member of the men’s basketball team and played two season with his older brother, Anthony Mitchell also a member of the men’s basketball team.
As a rookie in 2018-2019, Tyler appeared in 9 contests and gained valuable experience.
In the spring of 2019, he joined Sage’s Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Team and helped to set program records in the 4 x 100 meter and 4 x 400 meter relays.
His personal best efforts as a freshman were a time of 23.55 at the 2019 Empire 8 Championships as he finished 12th. He added a time of 12.32 taking 16th at the Capital District Championships in the 100 meter dash.
This past season on the Sage basketball team, he helped the Gators to their first Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Tournament appearance.
He started six of 15 games played this year and added a personal-best 6.8 ppg on 102 points with 17 steals. His career-best was a 20-point effort as Sage faced Hartwick.
Academics at Sage:
He is an applied biology major with a path to pre-med at Sage.
He is extremely active on campus and is a member of the Orientation Committee.
Mitchell has been elected to serve as the Co-President of Sage's SAAC for 2020-2021.
High School:
Mitchell is a graduate of All Hallows High School and excelled in basketball, cross country and track and field.
He was rewarded for his excellence in track and field having been selected as the team’s MVP.
He led the program to the Final Four of the CHSAA and was also honored for his academic success as a First Honors and an Honor Society student.
Personal:
He is the son of Josette Mitchell and is the brother to Sage’s men’s basketball senior, Anthony Mitchell.
