Sage men's track team opens year at Wesleyan Classic

Middletown, CT— Sage's men's outdoor track and field team opened the new season on Saturday competing at the Wesleyan University Classic, a non-team scored meet. The day marked the coaching debut for Sage's rookie head coach David Taranto as well.

For the Gator men's team, sophomore Ellis Richardson (Hudson, NY/Hudson) posted a second place finish while running in the 800 meter run with his impressive time of 2:10.22. In the 200 meter run, rookie Ramosaj Williams (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) took 8th place in 24.10, while Richardson was right on his heels in 10th place in 24.67.  In the 400 meter run, Williams was 9th in 58.81.

In the men's 1,500 meter run, senior captain Jarryd Wick (Ayers, MA/E.F. Parker School) took 20th place in 5:01.36. In the discus throw, rookie Trevor Hill (Hudson Falls, NY/Hudson Falls) took 11th place with a toss of 26.05 meters, while also taking 12th in the javelin with a performance of 27.36 meters.

Sage's teams will be back in action on March 30 travelling to the Mt. Saint Mary College Invitational held at Marlboro High School.
