Bishop Earns Dean Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award

Albany, NY—The Sage College's department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2017-2018 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2017-2018 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average, as well as the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award.

Men's track and field performer, senior Zack Bishop (Hudson Falls, NY/Hudson Falls) was named the Male Dean Sharon Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award recipient. A member of the track tram competing for Sage as a thrower, Bishop has a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is a psychology major with a minor in diversity and social justice. Bishop will graduate from Sage on May 12 and has been chosen as the valedictorian for Sage College of Albany.

Head Men's Track and Field Coach Zachary Williams commented on Zack, "Zack showed tremendous determination throughout his undergrad career." Williams added, "He was not only a student-athlete, and spent all of the time and energy necessary to be one, but did so while also maintaining a cumulative 4.0 GPA. To be both a student-athlete and your school's valedictorian is an incredible achievement, and needs to be applauded."

In addition to his selection as the Dean Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, he was also named to Sage's Athletic Honor Society and has been nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-District Track and Field Cross Country Team for his efforts in the classroom and on the track.
