Sage men's track team wraps action at first Empire 8 Championship; Richard breaks School Record in 400 Meter Dash

Rochester, NY – Sage's men's track and field squad wrapped up competition on Saturday at St. John Fisher College in the 2018 Empire 8 Championship.  The Men's Championship crown went to St. John Fisher College with 202 points, beating Stevens which took second with 170. Sage did not compete as a team and had no team score.

Rookie Ellis Richardson (Hudson, NY/Hudson) took home eighth place in the 400 meter dash in 52.06 to break the Sage track record. He broke the mark set in 2013 by Ricky Parker (52.5) at the Vassar Invitational in 2013. Richardson also picked up 14th place finish in the 200 the meter run in 24.68.

Head Coach Zachary Williams noted of the meet, "We finished our season at the Empire 8 Championship over the weekend, and we continued our season's theme of breaking school records. This time Ellis Richardson broke the men's 400m record.' He added, "Now that we've finally tested the waters of our new conference, we know what we need to do in the seasons to come, to be even more competitive on this bigger stage."
