Sage men take home 5th place at Mt. Holyoke Spring Fling Meet

South Hadley, MA—The Sage Colleges' men's track and field team was in action on Saturday competing at the Mt. Holyoke College Spring Fling. Sage's men's team finished in fifth place in the eight team field.

Sage's men's team had a number of impressive finishes as well at the meet. Junior Barceem Dukes (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) was third in the discus with his toss of 22.32 meters, while adding a fourth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 9.29 meters. He rounded out his day with a fifth place finish I the javelin with a toss of 26.89 meters.

Junior Frane Larose (Miami, FL/North Miami Beach Senior) was fifth in the 100 meter dash (12.39) as well as 9th in the 200 meter dash (25.26), while adding an 8th in the triple jump with his performance of 11.68 meters. He also picked up a 12th in the long jump with his leap of 5.60 meter.

Senior Ian Alejandro (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) added a 10th place finish in the 800 meter run in 2:21.27, while sophomore Jarryd Wick (Ayers, MA/E. F. Parker School) finished in 3rd place in the 5,000 meter run with his time of 21:44.63.

Junior Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of Innovative Technology) added 10th in the 100 meter dash (12.64) and an 11th in the 200 meter run in 25.52. 

Sage was third in the 4 x 100 relay as senior Anthony Williamson (Beacon, NY/Beacon), Ahmad, Larose and rookie Johnny Strickland (Nassau, NY/Columbia) combined for a time of 49.07.

Rookie Anthony Mitchell (Bronx, NY/Salesian) was 9th in the high jump with a performance of 1.58 meters.

The Gators will be back in action on April 18 travelling to the Hamilton College Invitational, a meet that was snowed out back on March 26.
