Records continue to fall for Sage men's track squad

Middletown, CT –The Sage men's outdoor track and field team travelled to Connecticut to compete at the Wesleyan University Swanson Invitational, a non-team scored meet. Along the way, Sage's two teams broke three school records at the meet. 

Sage's men's day was highlighted by a pair of record setting performances as two Gators continue to break their own marks for the third time this spring. Rookie Benjamin Hulett (Shaftbury, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) bettered his own school record in shot put with a throw of 10.53 meters, bettering his mark 10.08 meters as he picked up 8th on Saturday. In the javelin, he was 9th with his throw of 34.14 meters.

A Sage men's team record was broken for the third time this season as rookie Zachary Funk (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) broke his standard in the 800 meters with his time of 2:05.85 and took home 7th. He broke his record set two weeks ago of 2:09. 01.

In the 5,000 meter run, senior Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) added an 11th place finish in 17:08.90.

In the 100 meter run, junior Anthony Williamson (Beacon, NY/Beacon) picked up 12th in 11.86, while sophomore Jacob Clouse (Coeymans, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) was next for the Gators taking 29th in 16.53. In the 400 meter run, Williamson posted a time of 53.05 and was fourth. Rookie Malik McNeish (Bronx, NY/The Eagle Academy for Young Men) was 17th in the race in 1:00.68.

Junior Ian Alejandro (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) posted a time of 2:15.24 to take 9th in the 800 meter run, while sophomore Daesean Clay (Danbury, CT/Danbury) was 3rd in the 400 intermediate hurdles in 1:09.30.

Freshman Markenzi Sainvilus (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) was 21st in the discus with throw of 19.89 meters, while also taking home 14th in the shot put (7.6 meters) and 17th in the javelin with a performance of 17.93 meters.

Next up for the Gators is a competition on April 30 at the Capital District Championship at RPI.
