Middlebury, VT –The Sage men's outdoor track and field team travelled to Vermont and competed in the Middlebury College Panther Spring Invitational. Along the way, Sage's two teams broke seven school records at the meet.  Middlebury's men's and women's teams won both the team finishes in the five-team meet.

Sage's men's day was capped by two school records set by rookie Benjamin Hulett (Shaftbury, VT/Mt. Anthony Union). He bettered his own school record in discus as he had a performance of 32.65 meters and took 8th. He shattered his own record from three weeks ago (28.72 meters). He also broke another of his school records as he posted toss of 10.08 meters in the shot put and finished sixth. He broke his old record of 9.81 meters.

A Sage men's team record was broken on Saturday as well in the 1,500 meter run as rookie Zachary Funk (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) was 8th in 4:28.50, breaking the mark set earlier this season by senior Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) of 4:35.00.

Sophomore Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of the Innovative Technology) finished in 10th in the 100 meter dash in 12.48, while freshman Markenzi Sainvilus (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) was 17th in 15.04. Ahmad picked up 9th in the 200 meter run in 25.10, while junior Ian Alejandro (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) posted a time of 2:19.56 to take 8th in the 800 meter run.

Sainvilus finished in 8th in the shot put with a mark of 7.48 meters, while adding a 13th in the discus (19.67 meters), and 15th in the javelin with his toss of 13.56 meters.

Next up for the Gators is a competition on April 23 at the Wesleyan University J. Elmer Swanson Classic.
