Gators produce strong performances at Roadrunner Invitational

Mahwah, NJ –The Sage College's men's outdoor track and field team travelled to New Jersey to compete in the 2016 Roadrunner Invitational at Ramapo College.

Sage's men's team was led by the team's 17th place finish in the 4 x 100 relay. Sage took home 17th with a time of 47.43 as sophomore Daesean Clay (Danbury, CT/Danbury), sophomore Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of the Innovative Technology), rookie Deion Thomas (New York, NY/Democracy Prep), and junior Anthony Williamson (Beacon, NY/Beacon) competed.

In the 800 meter run, rookie Zachary Funk (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) was 49th in 2:12.70, while rookie Malik McNeish (Bronx, NY/The Eagle Academy for Young Men) was 59th in the 400 meter run in 1:04.37.

In the 200 meter dash, Ahmad was 75th in 26.77, while Clay was 69th in 26.40. In the 100 meter dash, Ahmad, Williamson, and sophomore Jacob Clouse (Coeymans, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) competed but did not advance to the finals.

In the 1,500 meter run, senior Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) took 42nd in 4:35.44, while junior Ian Alejandro (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) finished in 63rd in 4:56.74.

In the javelin throw, rookie Benjamin Hulett (Shaftbury, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) picked up 26th with his throw of 31.43 meters, while 5th with his mark of 9.19 meters, while rookie Markenzi Sainvilus (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) was 35th with his performance of 17.30 meters. In the discus, Hulett was 36th with a throw of 26.54 meters, while Sainvilus was 41st (20.83 meters).

Next up for the Gators is a competition on April 9 at Smith College for the Pioneer Invitational.
