The Sage College's men'soutdoor track and field squad was in action at the Capital District Championship on the campus of RPI on Saturday. The Gators had a banner afternoon at the meet as both personal and school records were set.
For the Sage men's team, junior Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) had an impressive school record time in the 3,000 meters as he ran a 9:31.36 and took home third place.
Sophomore Eric Denny (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) was seventh in the high jump with a performance of 1.73 meters. He also took fifth in the long jump (6.49 meters).
Rookie Russell Cobane (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy of Central School District at Delhi) picked up 19th in the in the long jump (5.41 meters).
In the 100 meter run, graduate performer Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) was 11th in 11.66, while freshman Jacob Clouse (Coeymans, NY/RCS) took 34th in 16.41.
In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Jonathan McNeil (Bloomfield, CT/Greater Hartford Classical Magnet) took 27th in 58.63, while adding a 42nd place finish in the 800 meters in 2:21.21. In the 200 meter dash, freshman Donald Edwards (Brooklyn, NY/James Westinghouse) took 37th in 26.17.
In the men's 4 x 100 relay, Sage posted a time of 46.68 as Crawford, rookie Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of Innovative Technology), Edwards, and Denny competed.
Next up for the Gators is the Matthew Vassar Twilight Meet at Vassar College on May 1.
