Sage men's track and field squad enjoys success at Wesleyan Classic

SAGE TRACK AND FIELD SQUADS CONTINUE TO EXCEL AS THEY COMPETE ON SATURDAY AT WESLEYAN CLASSIC

Middletown, CT –The Sage College's men's outdoor track and field team was in action at the Wesleyan Classic at Wesleyan University on Saturday, a non-team scored meet.

Sophomore Eric Denny (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) picked up another first place finish, becoming the first two-time medalist in the young program's history. He won the high jump once again as he posted a performance of 1.72 meters. He added a third place finish in the long jump (6.38 meters).

Junior Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) finished in second in the 5,000 meter run with his time of 16:52.78.

Rookie Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of Innovative Technology) was seventh in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes in 12.57 and 25.39, respectively.

In the 800 meter run, sophomore Jonathan McNeil (Bloomfield, CT/Greater Hartford Classical Magnet) took 14th in 2:24.85.

Rookie Russell Cobane (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy of Central School District at Delhi) picked up 8th in the long jump (5.42 meters), while adding a second place showing in the shot put (8.56 meters), and a second in the discus throw (18.43 meters).He was also fifth in the javelin with his throw of 28.29 meters.
