SCHNAIBLE ADDS GATORS OF THE YEAR HONORS IN MEN'S TENNIS TO HIS RESUME

Albany, NY— The Sage Colleges' department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2018-2019 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 17 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2018-2019 Female and Male Rookies of the Year as well as the 2018-2019 Female and Male Athletes of the Year. Sage also selected the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average, as well as the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award.

Selected as the Gator of the Year in men's tennis was junior Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa). Along the way in 2019, he went 5-5 this year at No. 2 singles and set the program's mark for most singles wins in a season, while also boasting the career singles wins mark as well with his 8 wins and is now 8-10 at Sage.

Head men's and women's tennis coach Tom Fashouer said of Schnaible, "Tyler has been a big part of the improvement of our men's tennis program." He continued, "He holds our team records for singles and doubles wins in a season as well as our career singles victory mark. He has become our team leader and he is an absolute pleasure to coach."

In addition to his Gator of the Year citation in men's tennis, Schnaible was also honored as a Sage Scholar-Athlete, while having also earned back to back selections to the Empire 8 Presidents' List in 2018-2019. He was also inducted into the Sage Athletic Honor Society as the end of the year banquet. In addition to men's tennis, Schnaible is also a member of the men's golf team at Sage.
