SAGE MEN'S TENNIS EARNS 7-2 EMPIRE 8 WIN OVER UTICA

Troy, NY- The Sage Colleges' men's tennis team hosted the Pioneers of Utica College on Tuesday afternoon in an Empire 8 match-up. The Gators celebrated Senior Day with a 7-2 win over Utica. With the victory, the Gators are now 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the Empire 8. Utica drops to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the league.

The Gators held a 2-1 lead after doubles as junior Henry Golden (Troy, NY/Troy) and senior Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) posted an 8-4 win over Paul Litvak and Maki Medici. Second doubles also went to Sage as senior Zaheer Ahmad (Queens, NY/Academy of Innovative Technology) and sophomore Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added the 8-1 win.

In singles, Fitzpatrick added the win, 6-4, 6-2 beating Makai Medici for his third singles win of the spring. Schnaible added a 6-0, 6-0 victory at third singles and is now 2-2 on the spring. Sage got singles wins at fourth from rookie Dan Mackey (Westerlo, NY/Greenville) and fifth singles from rookie Mitesh Joshi (Lake George, NY/Lake George). Freshman Mike Basile (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) added to the Gators' win with his victory at sixth singles.

Sage's next match is on Wednesday, April 25 as the Gators take on MCLA at 6:30 p.m. in a match being held at the Bennington Tennis Club in Bennington, VT.
