Sage men's tennis takes on two opponents in final day of 2017 season

Purchase, NY--The Sage Colleges' men's tennis team travelled to Purchase College on Saturday and was kept busy with a pair of Skyline Conference matches. Sage faced St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn at 11 a.m. and had an impressive performance, but fell 6-3 to the Bears. The Gators then took on Purchase College, falling 9-0 the second place squad in the Skyline Conference. Sage wraps the 2017 season with a mark of 0-13 overall and 0-7 in 0-8 in the league.
 

At No. singles, junior Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) picked up the three-set win after falling 6-1 in the first set to Kevin Caicedo. He won the second set, 7-5 and took the tie-breaker 10-5. Sage added a win at No. 3 singles as junior Nathaniel Miller (Green Island, NY/Heatly) won 6-1, 6-1 over Matthew Smith.

Fitzpatrick teamed at No. 2 doubles with rookie Abbey Clobridge (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) for the 8-0 win to cap the morning session of Sage tennis.

Sage's next match came at 3:30 as the Gators faced Purchase College. The Panthers posted the 9-0 win to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Skyline Conference tournament after collecting the squad's eight consecutive win and wrapping Skyline play with a 7-1 record.
