Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's tennis team hosted the Hawks of Hartwick College in the team's 2015 season finale. Sage honored their men's team seniors prior to the match, senior captain Gerard Beaudin (Delmar, NY/Home Schooled) and Mark Castillo (Randolph, MA/Randolph) in conjunction with senior day. Hartwick took the match beating Sage, 9-0 in the non-conference match to improve to 4-5, while Sage's season ends with a 2-9 record.

Sage's senior Kirsten Ackerman (Rensselaer, NY/Guilderland) suffered the loss at No. 1 singles as he fell in three sets to Hartwick's rookie John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman), 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).

Playing at No. 2 singles, Beaudin fell to senior Brian Redder (Marion, NY/Williamson), 7-5, 6-2. Over the course of his career, Beaudin was a two-time team captain and a four-year letterwinner. Beaudin holds the all-time career singles mark for the men's program with his five career wins.

At No. 3 singles, senior Will Galbraith (West Monroe, NY/Paul V. Moore) topped Castillo, 6-1, 6-0. Castillo was a four-year letterwinner for the Gators and played in 35 career singles matches.

Ackerman and Beaudin faced Redder and Galbraith at No. 1 doubles, but fell 8-1.

Ackerman, who went 4-2 at No. 1 singles this spring as a woman on the men's tennis team, also wraps her outstanding collegiate career of tennis at Sage. The two-time Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year and three-time Skyline All-Star performer, Ackerman went 14-2 in singles play this past fall with the women's tennis team and finished as a 2014 ITA Northeast Singles Semifinalist. Over the course of the season, she went 79-16 in her three seasons at Sage and produced a record of 44-5 in singles play and a 35-11 mark in doubles action.

Sage's rookie Troy Hansen (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) suffered a loss at No. 4 singles on Thursday and caps his rookie season with a 4-7 singles mark.

Over the course of the 2015 season, Sage's men's tennis team created several new high-water marks under rookie Head Coach Tom Fashouer. Sage recorded the program's first Skyline Conference win, while racking up two team wins, another Sage first. Two players recorded four singles wins (Ackerman and Hansen) to set a new standard for the most singles victories in a season.
