Ackerman earns acclaim from ECAC as women's tennis player of the week

Danbury, CT – The Sage College's tennis team had one player honored for their efforts last week as the men's tennis team opened the new season. Senior Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland), a member of the 2015 Sage Men's Tennis Team, was chosen as this week's ECAC Corvais Division III Metro Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Playing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles on the Sage men's team, Ackerman was a winner as she beat Kyle Martin, 6-4, 6-3 of Castleton State.

Ackerman, who was a three-time Skyline Conference Women's Tennis All-Star honoree, and is the most decorated women's tennis player in the program's history. A team co-captain this past fall on the women's team, she helped the Gators to a 7-8 record, while finishing as a 2014 ITA Northeast Singles Semifinalist. Over the course of the season, she posted 14-2 record in singles play, including a 3-1 record in league play and a 10-1 mark at the No. 1 singles position. On her career, she is now 80-17 in her three seasons at Sage and produced a record of 45-5 in singles play and a 35-12 mark in doubles action.
