Named last year’s Gator award winner in men’s tennis for the 2013 season, Sean Alvarado returns this season after a 2-9 record in singles. He added a record of 0-8 in doubles for the Gators. Over the course of the 2013 season, he was part of the team’s success in the victory over MCLA and finished the season with a dramatic improvement in his abilities on the court. A team leader off the court, he has been a player the team can count on for leadership.

Head Coach Bruce Perry said of Alvarado, “Sean’s spirit and willingness to help the team has been seen both last season and in 2012. He has improved considerably and has the ability to help our young program continue to grow.”

As a tennis newcomer in 2012, he went 2-2 in singles play at fifth and sixth singles. He went 1- in doubles action for the Gators in 2012.

Earning the Gator of the Year award in cross country as a freshman at Sage, he helped the 2012 men’s cross country team post a third place finish at the 2012 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships as well as a spot on the 2012 USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete Team.

He came to Sage after an impressive scholastic career at Onteora High School, where he played three sports, football, cross country, and track. He was named team captain of the cross country squad as a junior and senior. At Sage, he is majoring in physical education and is the son of Dean and Tammy Alvarado.
