Gators Earn Point at Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. – Russell Sage College earned a point with this afternoon's 1-1 Empire 8 Conference tie at Alfred.

Forward/midfielder John Locicero (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill), a graduate student, scored the RSC goal on a penalty kick in the 16th minute, while senior goalkeeper Tyler Brennan (Albany, NY/Shaker) (2-5-4) registered seven saves.

The Saxons (4-6-4/1-3-2 E8) knotted the Sunday matinee in the 63rd minute on a goal by freshman forward Xavier Bowman.

Across the 90 minutes of play, the Gators held a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks, while Alfred outshot the visitors 18-13.

RSC (3-6-4/1-3-2 E8) closes the regular season with three home games. The run begins on Tuesday night against the Pratt Institute.  The non-conference contest will serve as the program's "Senior Night".


Notes: The Gators, which have finished in the top half of the E8 Conference standings in three of the last four seasons, made their fourth appearance in the E8 Championship Tournament in 2022…RSC got off to its best-ever start in E8 play at 3-0-0, and established a program single-season record with five E8 victories during the debut campaign of head coach Amir Pasic.
