Cardinals Use Pair of Quick First Half Goals to Upend RSC

ALBANY, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Plattsburgh utilized two goals in a 29 second span midway through the first half to defeat Russell Sage College 3-1 tonight at the ACP Athletic Complex.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, senior forward El Hadji Iba Sy (Bronx, NY/Emma Lazarus) halved the RSC deficit in the 55th minute. Sophomore forward/midfielder Andrew Kraszewski (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) recorded the assist.

Junior midfielder John Hayes and freshman forward Xavier Kamba were the SUNY Plattsburgh first half goal scorers, while freshman midfielder Tristan Laundree added an insurance goal in the 67th minute. Kamba registered a goal and an assist to lead the Cardinals (3-0-1).

Looking ahead, RSC (2-2-1) begins Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Nazareth.


Notes: The Gators, which finished in the top half of the E8 Conference standings in three of the last four seasons, made their fourth appearance in the E8 Championship Tournament in 2022…RSC got off to its best-ever start in E8 play at 3-0-0, and established a program single-season record with five E8 victories during the debut campaign of head coach Amir Pasic.
