Men's Soccer falls at SUNY-Canton

Canton, NY – Russell Sage College men's soccer team was on the road on Friday evening facing the Roos of SUNY-Canton. In a see-saw battle, the Gators dropped a tight match to Canton, 2-1. The loss puts RSC at 2-2-1, while Canton moves to 1-2.

SUNY-Canton struck first with a goal at 27:16 by Jack Ferris to hold a 1-0 lead at the intermission.

Gator junior defender Mason Kievet (LaGrange, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) made the most of the team's pressure in the box as he converted the corner kick for the evener at 65:26. He added another series of attacks down the stretch, but Canton's Owen Kwong came up strong recording seven saves on the 19 shots faced by the RSC offense.

Down the stretch, Canton's Martin Torales was able to make the most of a free kick outside of the box and slipped the eventual game-winner past junior keeper Jordan Prouty (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) at 80:59. Prouty finished the night with three saves and is now 1-1.

The Gators are back in action on September 12 hosting Plattsburgh State in a 6 p.m. non-conference match at ACP Stadium.
