RSC Men's Soccer Represented by Four on All-Empire 8 Conference Teams

Christian Vålstuen

HILTON, N.Y. – Russell Sage College is represented by four student-athletes on the All-Empire 8 Conference Men's Soccer Teams. The results of the voting, which was done by the league's head coaches, were announced by the E8 earlier this morning.

Midfielder/forward Christian Vålstuen (Lillestrom, Norway/Lambertseter Athletic), a fifth-year senior, made the second-team for the third-consecutive year. The co-captain provided strong two-way play for the Gators (8-8-2/5-4-0 E8).  He tied for second on RSC with seven points on two goals and three assists, while helping the team post seven clean sheets. Vålstuen closed the campaign ninth in program records with 29 career points, 10 career goals, and nine career assists.

Junior forward El Hadji Iba Sy (Bronx, NY/Emma Lazarus) and freshman defender Isaiah Edmonds (Earlton, NY/Greenville) were third-team selections. Iba Sy topped RSC with 12 points on a team-best six goals. He netted two goals in a game twice and recorded three game-winning goals.

Edmonds anchored the Gator defense as a rookie. He started 17 contests and helped RSC rank second in the E8 with a 1.11 goals-against average.

One member of each institution makes the 2022 E8 Men's Soccer Sportsmen of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees distinguished themselves by consistently exhibiting the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.  Sophomore goalie Jordan Prouty (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) represents the Gators on this squad.

The quartet helped RSC earn the three seed in the E8 Conference Championship Tournament with 15 points.  The five victories in E8 play established a program single-season record.
