Gators Stay Hot vs. Hartwick

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College picked up its fourth-straight victory by defeating visiting Hartwick 1-0 tonight at the ACP Athletic Complex.

Sophomore defender/midfielder Ian Maguire (Dunstable, MA/Groton-Dunstable Regional) (above) put the Gators on the board early tonight, heading home the loose ball off of a corner kick just 6:03 into the game.

The visiting Hawks had their chances to knot the Empire 8 Conference game, earning six corners in the second half, but the RSC defense held strong.

Junior goalie Nolan Murphy (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) totaled six saves to garner the win (3-3-1), while Hartwick freshman goalkeeper Jackson Gilstrap stopped four Gator shots in defeat (0-2-0).

Looking ahead, both teams are home for "Senior Day" on Saturday afternoon. Sage (8-5-2/3-3-0 E8), now 5-1-1 across its past seven matches,  will host Utica at 6:00 pm. Meanwhile,  Hartwick (6-6-2/1-4-1 E8) faces Nazareth at 3:00 pm.
