Rabadi's game-winner lifts Gators past Keuka, 2-1

RSC MEN'S SOCCER TALLIES KEY EMPIRE 8 WIN OVER KEUKA, 2-1

Keuka Park, NY—Russell Sage College's men's soccer team made a road to trip Keuka College for an Empire 8 contest. The Gators posted a 2-1 win to earn the team's third straight victory and are now 7-5-2 overall and 2-3 in the Empire8. Keuka drops to 2-8-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the league.

The Gators trailed 1-0 at the half as Keuka's Owen Thorpe struck first with his goal at 28:18.

Junior Jason Breznak (Waterford, NY/Shenendehowa) tied the game at 68:51 on a pass from sophomore Sergio Ventura (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood).

With the game looking like it was headed to overtime, junior midfielder Matt Rabadi (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) connected on his first goal of the season at the 88:29 mark. The goal turned out to be the game-winner and was assisted by senior midfielder Christian Vaalstuen (Lillestrom, Norway).

Vaalstuen is the team's leader in points with 12 points on four goals and four assists. On his career, he now has 22 career points, which ranks 13th best. He is also now 13th as well with six career assists.

RSC's sophomore keeper Nolan Murphy (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) picked up the win as he made eight saves in the game and is now 3-3-1 in net for the Gators. Keuka's Coery Cangemi also made eight saves and took the loss for the Wolves.

RSC is back in action on October 19 hosting Hartwick College in a 7 p.m. home Empire 8 contest.
