Nazareth Flies Past Gators

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College visited Nazareth, currently sitting atop the Empire 8 Conference standings, on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flyers (8-1-1/3-0 E8) helped solidify their perch with a 6-1 win.

Nazareth, now winners of seven-straight-games, scored twice in a 2:25 span to take an early 2-0 lead.

Just before the break, sophomore forward Evan Austin (Latham, NY/Shaker) trimmed the RSC deficit in half with a goal off a corner. Defender Michael Considine (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) (above), a graduate student, had the assist.

Nazareth, which improved to 6-0 at home, broke things open with four goals after the intermission. Sophomore midfielder Cooper Lavalley scored twice, while freshman defender Drew Decker (Clifton Park, NY/CBA) recorded a goal and three assists to lead the way.

Looking ahead, Sage (4-5-1/0-3 E8) plays next on Tuesday at SUNY Poly. The non-conference game is set for a 5:00 pm start.
