ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College opened the Empire 8 Conference portion of its schedule by falling to visiting Elmira 1-0 this afternoon at the Albany College of Pharmacy Athletic Complex.

The lone goal of the Saturday matinee was scored by senior forward Gavin Wise in the 57th minute.

The Gators had their chances to net an equalizer across the final 33:26, totaling three corners and six shots on goal.  However, the Soaring Eagles senior goalkeeper Giovanni Garufi was up to the challenge.

For the game, Sage out-shot the visitors 13-10 and recorded a 5-1 advantage on corners.

Both squads have non-conference home games scheduled for Tuesday at 4:00 pm. RSC (3-2-1/0-1-0 E8) hosts Plattsburgh State, while Elmira (4-2-0/1-0-0 E8) entertains SUNY Delhi.
