Goodemote lifts Sage past Cobleskill

Albany, NY — The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Fighting Tigers of SUNY-Cobleskill on Tuesday night at ACP Stadium in a non-conference match-up. Sage collected the 1-0 win as junior forward Griffin Goodemote (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) scored on a pass from sophomore center back Giddel Alvarado (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) connected on the feed from the far side to the left upper corner for the lone score on the night. With the win, Sage is now 3-3, while Cobleskill drops to 3-3-1.

In a hard-fought match-up, the two teams battled the entire night as Cobleskill held a 13-12 edge on the shots. Cobleskill also had a 6-4 advantage on corners and made the most of a last second shot by senior forward Emile Vwaza (Manhattan, NY/Jaqueline Kennedy-Onassis) from the far left side across to the ride side as time expired.

In goal for the Gators, sophomore Lucas Bourdeau (Castleton-on-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill) made six saves in goal and is now 3-3 on the season with his second shutout of the year. Cobleskill's rookie keeper Rashawn Best (Brooklyn, NY/Martin Luther King) took the loss with four saves in the action.
