Albany, NY — The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the No. 2 ranked Red Dragons of Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon in the Gators' 2019 home opener. Tied at 0-0 at the break, Sage pushed the Red Dragons on Saturday but fell, 1-0 in the home debut of Sage's rookie head coach Matt Esposito. Oneonta remains unbeaten with a 5-0 mark, while Sage drops to 2-3 on the year.
The lone goal of the action came at 69:55 as sophomore forward Jeremy Pantoni (Goshen, NY/Goshen) scored on a pass through the Gator defense from junior midfielder Roberto Ventura (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood). Pantoni collected the game-winner to keep his team perfect on the year.
In goal for the Gators, sophomore Lucas Bourdeau (Castleton-on-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill) made four saves in goal and is now 2-3 on the season after yielding just one goal in the contest. Oneonta State's rookie keeper Nate Hanna (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) earned the shutout win as he turned away two of the shots he faced on goal and is now 3-0.
Sage is back in action on September 17 hosting SUNY-Cobleskill at 7 p.m. at ACP Stadium.
