Seybolt and Hayes honored by the Empire 8

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team had one player honored with the release of the 2018 Empire 8 All-Star Men's Soccer Team.  Sage's senior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) was named to the All-Star First Team at forward. Senior midfielder Liam Hayes (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) was tapped for the 2018 Empire 8 Men's Soccer Sportsmanship Team.

Seybolt, who was also named to the first team in 2017, was a repeat selection after once again leads the Gators in scoring this past fall.  On the 2018 campaign he finished as the leading scorer with 12 points on five goals with two assists. He also was 2-2 on penalty kick attempts with a pair of game-winning goals. Honored as the 2017 Empire 8 Men's Soccer Player of the Year as a junior, Seybolt closed his stellar collegiate career with numerous records for his efforts. He established the Gator point scoring mark with 102 points with a school-record 45 goals. He set the mark for most career game-winning goals with 16, while never missing a penalty kick after going 8-8 at Sage. He played in 70 games over his time in a Sage uniform with 54 starts.

Hayes was a starter for the Gators this fall in the midfield and wrapped his career having played in 61 matches with 10 career points on two goals with six assists. He was honored as a junior with a selection to the 2017 Empire 8 Men's Soccer All-Tournament Team after helping to lead the squad to the league's championship match and a runner-up finish.

On the 2018 season, Sage went 4-10-1 overall with a record of 2-3-1 in the Empire 8.
