Sage men fall at unbeaten Clarkson

Potsdam, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team faced the Knights of Clarkson University on Sunday afternoon. Clarkson collected a 3-1 win to remain unbeaten and improves to 5-0, while Sage drops to 0-4.

Clarkson led 1-0 at the half and Sage as Henry Gomez found the net. Midway through the second half, John Furcick converted a penalty kick at 71:16 to increase Clarkson's lead. Moments later, Sage's senior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) converted a penalty kick for Sage at 73:42 to cut the lead back to one goal. Clarkson's Drew Lewis scored on a corner kick at 81:45 to give the Knights the 3-1 win.

Seybolt adds to his active Sage career marks with his first goal of 2018 as he now has 92 career points on 41 goals with 10 assists. He also is now the Sage career penalty kick leader with seven and is also perfect having made 7-of-7 in his time at Sage.

In net for Sage on Sunday was rookie Lucas Bourdeau (Castleton-on-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill). He made one save on the day with three goals allowed.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, September 15 hosting Nazareth College at ACP Field in the team's 2018 Empire 8 opener. Game time is 3 p.m.
